When you step foot onto the Rockin MZ Quarter Horse Ranch in Southwest, Montana you might as well be stepping into the pages of a Louis L’Amour novel. This is a part of the world that seems to be frozen in a time where good ol' ranch horses are produced for all kinds of tasks as well as in competition including heading/heeling, calf roping, team penning, and steer wrestling. Waldo horses are bred with a calm and gentle disposition,  people oriented, sound, big butt, color to die for, bones to last, and a lot of natural ability to get the job done!

You simply have to experience it for yourself.

Waldo is a gorgeous Dark Blue Roan Stud who has an exceptionally good disposition, athletic/muscular, cowy, bones to last, easy to train, people oriented, and consistently passes these traits to his offspring. Here at Rockin MZ Quarter Horses of Montana I purposely try to produce good quality horses (not quantity) with Blue Roan and Black colors as a bonus. Waldo is a stout type ranch horse with that good old Hancock - Driftwood breeding combining two great ranches; The Haythorn, and The Four Six's. He was named after Waldo Haythorn. Waldos Top Hand has built a name for himself by producing excellent ranch and roping horses with a good mind and big hips, even if the mare doesn't have either. One of the most important things is to have a horse with a good mind as it make it easier and safer to train. Waldo produces some of the finest ranch bred horses that some people have paid $20,000 or more for one of them. He has been color tested EE Homozygous for the black gene. This means that “he can not produce a red foal regardless the color of the mare” (UC Davis). His black color does not fade in the summer sun. The horses I raise and train here in Montana are ridden in the mountains above 5,000 feet and started on cattle. Most of of his offspring is black or roan in color.  All of our foals will be broke to lead, tie up, load and trim, not to mention friendly.

We have horses of different ages for sale. Don’t miss a chance to breed to this quality ranch horse or buy one of his colts.  Give us a call if you have a mare to breed or if you are looking for something to buy.

We don't just produce registered foals as Waldo always improves what he's bread to.

Come see for yourself!
